You can find it in /usr/local/bin/gdb but depends on unix type.  most unix os's
have a package available for gdb, you just have to find it.  usually it's a
good practice to install gdb when you install gcc. 

i'm using gdb 5.2.1 with gcc 3.3 on solaris
