Subject RE: [users@httpd] Forcing files in a directory to be opened by the browser
Date Fri, 11 Jun 2004 06:52:00 GMT
When I'm already asking questions..

What I'm trying to fix is to be able to view the log-files with a
browser. It would be neat to have the directory listing sorted by date,
so the latest updated file is in the top of the browser list, is that
possible?

Is there also some sort of possibility of tailing the file with the
browser without having to refresh the browser? Maybe a cgi-script could
fix that?

Thanks for all the help!

Best Regards / Erik

Ok, thank for the input.

I tried that and also adding ForceType text/plain to all the files in
the Directory-tag, but didn't work either. It still opens the log-files
with the associated program..

Any other suggestions?

Maybe
<Files *.log>
ForceType text/plain
</Files>

Subject: [users@httpd] Forcing files in a directory to be opened by the
browser

Hi all.

Is it possible to force certain files in a directory to be opened with
the browser instead of the associated application?

I have created the following entry in my httpd.conf to allow the users
to see all the log-files in the logs-folder, but I don't want then to
open them with the associated program. I would like the files to open in
the browser so they after they opened the file can refresh the browser
to get the updated content of the log-file.

Httpd.conf:

Alias /logs/resin_logs/
/opt/app/resin/2.1.6/logs/
<Directory "/opt/app/resin/2.1.6/logs">
    Options Indexes MultiViews
    AllowOverride AuthConfig
    AuthType Basic
    AuthName "Restricted Files"
    AuthUserFile /opt/app/apache/2.0.49/passwd/passwords
    Require valid-user
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
</Directory>

I'm a rookie when it comes to configuring web-servers, so please forgive
me if I'm asking stupid questions.

Best Regards / Erik Andersson
