You'll need to varify that the file is delivered as text/plain. You could
try this:

$ telnet <yourhost> 80
HEAD /logs/access_log HTTP/1.1
Host: <yourhost>
(two new-lines)

See what the Content-Type is in the response.

What browser are you testing with? Do other browsers behave differently?
