I've been having some trouble with Apache taking over too much RAM and
can
not figure out the cause, or a solution. Most of the time my httpd child
processes are about 10MB each. No trouble there. Every once in a while
the
children jump up to 50 MB each. This is a problem. In the latest
instance
apache also then launched about 25 children which it shouldn't given
that:

<IfModule prefork.c>
StartServers       8
MinSpareServers    5
MaxSpareServers   10
MaxClients       150
MaxRequestsPerChild  750
</IfModule>

<IfModule worker.c>
StartServers         2
MaxClients         150
MinSpareThreads     25
MaxSpareThreads     75
ThreadsPerChild     25
MaxRequestsPerChild 100
</IfModule>

<IfModule perchild.c>
NumServers           5
StartThreads         5
MinSpareThreads      5
MaxSpareThreads     10
MaxThreadsPerChild  20
MaxRequestsPerChild 100
</IfModule>

Is there any way to determine what is causing the huge memory usage? I
have
a few ideas, but need to confirm before I tell clients to remove certain
apps.

Roger
