Roger,
In that case I would look in fundamentals like patches , OS patches
etc.Since all works ok on other Unix Server. If any process is looping
and consuming memory there is definitely memory leak.
Ps au cmd gives good picture and to analyze which thread is causing the
issue.

It's almost certainly in mod_php. Now how do I determine what script is
misbehaving? BTW all of these scripts have been in production on another
server for quite some time without trouble.
