I used Firefox and IE to try and access Apache. ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 2004 1:52 PM Subject: Re: [users@httpd] Beginner - port 80 and firewall Have you tried to use the browser with http://localhost/ to see if that would bring up the site?? What are you trying to use to see the page?? Are you doing localhost, or www.mysite.com?? If you are trying to use www.mysite.com and it is not reaching it, it could be a DNS issue. Please explain more what method you are using to reach the page. Also PLEASE DO NOT USE HTML Email. > -----Original Message----- > From: adrian Greeman [mailto:adriangreeman@pixandwords.freeserve.co.uk] > Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 2004 09:40 AM > To: users@httpd.apache.org > Subject: [users@httpd] Beginner - port 80 and firewall > > I used to have Apache 1.3 running well on Win ME for PHP learning. > > Now I have got XP (with SP1) and just downloaded Apache 2.0.48 again personal single computer use. > > It installed with no problems and sits there nicely saying it is running - but I cannot connect to it through the browser. > > The problem seems to be my firewall or virus scanner.
