Do you know if this is a Solaris 2.9 specific issue?  I have been able to
build it with out errors on Solaris 2.8.

It looks like something broke in 2.0.49 from 2.0.48. On
a lark I downloaded 2.0.48 and built it. I had NO problems
at all! I verified the md5 hash at

http://www.apache.org/dist/httpd/httpd-2.0.49.tar.gz.md5

with my source, and they match. I also tried building httpd-2.0.49.tar.Z to
see if the problem was there as well, It was!

I submited a bug report to bugzilla, it is 28166.
