I'd heard nothing but trouble myself, but a client's new
Solaris 9 sparc came with 1.3.27 (and tomcat) with mod_perl
installed as DSO. I didn't enable it, but (gosh) anything
they can do I can do (not). Thanks again.

Aha! I didn't realise you were trying to load mod_perl as a DSO...  I've
only ever heard of trouble when that is attempted
(http://www.delouw.ch/linux/Apache-Compile-HOWTO/html/apache.html#AEN410
- see caution).
