When I check the version I get...

Using builtin specs.
gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (release)

This is the same thing that I used on another machine.....and it worked.
Is there anything else I can check

gcc doesn't appear to work.

Do "which gcc" to see where it's installed and "gcc -v" to see the
version. Something is wrong with it - if only there were some details
somewhere...
