X-Spam-Rating: minotaur-2.apache.org 1.6.2 500/1000/N Hey Josh, Great point. I checked the error log and found no error messages. The server seemed to be running fine. I'm using Microsoft IE 6.0 right now. I had the same problem when I tried running IIS instead. However, that was resolved when I tried to access http://localhost using Netscape. Later I discovered that I need to uncheck the "Automatically Detect Settings" under Tools->Internet Options->Connections->Lan Settings for IE. So at least I know I can use IIS. Now when I tried to run Apache again under the new setting for Microsoft IE I get a different problem. No error message this time, it just appears that the IE hangs halfway. I got a similar problem using Netscape. My configuration for the http.conf file is now as follows: Listen 80 ServerName localhost:80 Man... this is frustrating. Any help would be great. > > From: Joshua Slive > Date: 2003/12/14 Sun PM 01:48:59 EST > To: users@httpd.apache.org > Subject: Re: [users@httpd] Help, royally stuck! > > > On Sat, 13 Dec 2003 paul-w@rogers.com wrote: > > I'm able to start my Apache 2.048 (listening to port 80) web server fine. > > > > Here are the parameters I used in httpd.conf file: > > ServerName 127.0.0.1:80 > > Listen 127.0.0.1:80 > > > > Then I tried to connect to the server and access the default page by > > launching my browser using the following URL: http://localhost/ > > > > At which point, I got the following error: > > Server Error > > The following error occurred: > > Bad URL > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Please contact the administrator. > > Can you tell if it is a browser error or a server error? > > What EXACTLY does your apache error log (and access log) say? > > Joshua. > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > The official User-To-User support forum of the Apache HTTP Server Project. > See for more info. > To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscribe@httpd.apache.org > " from the digest: users-digest-unsubscribe@httpd.apache.org > For additional commands, e-mail: users-help@httpd.apache.org > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- The official User-To-User support forum of the Apache HTTP Server Project.
