Well Rich,

Maybe I should have been more specific.  The use of mod_proxy in a reverse
proxy configuration on Apache 1.3.x will accept http 1.1 but will only proxy
the requests in http 1.0.  I am sure of that 100%.

Pish, tosh and poppycock. Perhaps it's true for certain values of x, but in 
that case x is certainly less than 14. I'm 99% sure that HTTP 1.1 was spoken

by apache 1.3.0.
