You have to restart Apache for the changes to take effect.   apachectl -k restart

Thank You

I haven't had any luck, but do I have to kill httpd first, before
the settings in httpd.conf take effect ?

Thanks in advance,
Matthew

In your httpd.conf try changing the port that apache Listen on from 80
to 8080 and see if it works

I don't understand.
How can I disable apache from blocking port 80,
so I can access my webserver from off campus ?

I'm new at this,
Matthew

Im a desk top tech at my University and the university standing

polices

is that port 80 is blocked at the firewall from out side so internally
it works great but soon as your off campus port is blocked we do this

to

stop worms and AV like codeRed and nimda try ftping to the same box on
port 80 with http server off and ftp on so as to not block 80 port by
apache ;)

Hi, I set up a webserver for Apache 1.3.28 on one of my campus
computers.
I can access this webserver on any other campus computer. However, if

I

try to access the server off campus, I get page not found.

I can ftp and telnet to the computer off campus.
Why can I not http to it ? Do I need to change something in my
httpd.conf file ?

Thanks in advance,
Matthew
