I already have this:
error_reporting = E_ALL
display_errors = On
in php.ini.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I'm running Apache 2 on Windows XP
locally, and the remote host is on Linux, with Apache 1.3. Same problem
though. I am unfortunately unable to examine the error logs of the
remote host.

Try turning on all PHP warnings/errors/messages in php.ini and see if
there's anything that would indicate that mod_php encountered an error
of some type.
