The problem is that the default ssl virual host DOES match everything.  I have 2 ssl Virtual
Hosts declatrions, the second one never gets reached, everything just goes right to the default.

Try putting it after your actual vhost in the config file.  I think (but not sure) that if
multiple vhosts match the request, the first one is used.  Putting _default_ first would all
but guarantee that it matches everything, if this is the case.
