Oops.  Nope.
http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec10.html#sec10.3.5

304 = Not Modified.

It means that your browser already has it in the cache and should serve it
from there.  What EXACTLY are you seeing in the browser window?  Have you
tried removing the contents of the htdocs directory and putting your own
index.html file there?
