Subject Re: [users@httpd] Help with Tomcat/mod_jk on Win32...

Hi,

Config seems to be o.k. - nearly.
"locahost" might not be the system you want to address from within workers.properties?!
Probably, it is "localhost".

Hint:
To succeed when experimenting, place different configurations into different files.
Thus, i would never put Your "worker3" and "worker4" relevant stuff together into one while
figuring out how things work.

Next Steps:
Set Apache "LogLevel" to "DEBUG".
Set JkLogLevel to "debug".
Try again.
Check the apache error log and the jk log for the "file not found".
Niko

  Subject: [users@httpd] Help with Tomcat/mod_jk on Win32...

  Hi, can someone help me setting up mod_jk on win32?

  Apache 1.3.28 installed in D:\Apache
  Tomcat4.1 installed in D:\Apache\Tomcat4
  Tomcat5.0.9b installed in C:\Apache\Tomcat509b\

  CATALINA_HOME is set to D:\Apache\Tomcat4

  In my httpd.conf:

  <IfModule mod_jk.c>
  JkWorkersFile D:/Apache/Tomcat4/conf/worker.properties

  # Where to put jk logs
  JkLogFile D:/Apache/logs/mod_jk.log

  # Set the jk log level [debug/error/info]
  JkLogLevel info

  # Select the log format
  JkLogStampFormat "[%a %b %d %H:%M:%S %Y] "

  # JkOptions indicate to send SSL KEY SIZE,
  JkOptions +ForwardKeySize +ForwardURICompat -ForwardDirectories

  # JkRequestLogFormat set the request format
  JkRequestLogFormat "%w %V %T"

  # Send servlet for context /examples to worker named worker2
  JkMount /servlet/* worker2

  # Send JSPs for context /examples to worker named worker2
  JkMount /*.jsp worker2
  </IfModule>

  In my D:\Apache\Tomcat4\conf\worker.properties:

  # Define some properties
  workers.apache_log=D:/Apache/logs/error.log
  workers.tomcat_home=D:/Apache/Tomcat4/
  workers.java_home=C:/j2sdk/
  ps=/

  # Define 4 workers, 3 real workers using ajp12, ajp13, jni, the last one being a loadbalancing
worker
  worker.list=worker1, worker2, worker3, worker4

  # Set properties for worker1 (ajp12)
  worker.worker1.type=ajp12
  worker.worker1.host=locahost
  worker.worker1.port=8007
  worker.worker1.lbfactor=5

  # Set properties for worker2 (ajp13)
  worker.worker2.type=ajp13
  worker.worker2.host=locahost
  worker.worker2.port=8009
  worker.worker2.lbfactor=50
  worker.worker2.cachesize=10
  worker.worker2.cache_timeout=600
  worker.worker2.socket_keepalive=1
  worker.worker2.socket_timeout=300

  # Set properties for worker3 (jni)
  worker.worker3.type=jni

  # Set worker3 bridge type, here Tomcat 3.3
  worker.worker3.bridge=tomcat33

  # Set worker3 classpath
  worker.worker3.class_path=$(workers.tomcat_home)$(ps)classes
  worker.worker3.class_path=$(workers.tomcat_home)$(ps)lib$(ps)tomcat.jar

  # Set worker3 tomcat command line
  worker.worker3.cmd_line=-home
  worker.worker3.cmd_line=$(workers.tomcat_home)

  # Set worker3 Tomcat/JVM settings
  worker.worker3.jvm_lib=$(workers.java_home)$(ps)jre$(ps)bin$(ps)classic$(ps)libjvm.so
  worker.worker3.stdout=$(workers.apache_log)$(ps)inprocess.stdout
  worker.worker3.stderr=$(workers.apache_log)$(ps)inprocess.stderr
  worker.worker3.sysprops=tomcat.home=$(workers.tomcat_home)

  # Set properties for worker4 (lb) which use worker1 and worker2
  worker.worker4.balanced_workers=worker1,worker2

  Now, my errorlog says
  "[Tue Sep 02 23:14:27 2003] [error] (2)No such file or directory: Error while opening the
workers, jk will not work"

  Just that workers.properties exists... The port 8009 is open, so is 8080 but not 8007...
I can access Tomcat on port 8080 as expected, and the examples work... But not when I use
hello.jsp in an Apache folder (now, code could be invalid, but it seems to be some mod_jk
error)...

  Any ideas? Should I try Tomcat 5 instead of 4? Have I done anything wrong?

  Apache 1.3.28, mod_jk-1.3.26, WinXP home (testing and learning purposes)...
