Subject [users@httpd] Apache:SSL and HTTP-compression (negative effect on compression rate???)
Date Tue, 12 Aug 2003 11:26:23 GMT
Does anybody know about effects when combining mod_gzip and mod_ssl ?
I have heard that ssl-encryption should have a negative influence on the
compression rate obtained by mod_gzip.
On the other side I read that ssl is on a layer that is located below the
HTTP-layer in the OSI model which would mean that first compressing and
secondly endcoding informations would not necessarily mean that the
compression rates go down !?

Thanks a lot

Jim
