Subject Re: [users@httpd] How to get Apache installed and working on Windows ME
Date Sat, 02 Aug 2003 14:06:23 GMT
1. HTML is bad... Although, I've posted one of those myself...

2. IIS isn't avaible under Me... I got PWS running however...

3. I was running win2k server edition with Apache on port 80, and IIS only
listening to localhost and running at some wierd port, then I use ProxyPass
to get requests there... Why not just have it open on port 8080? Cause I'm
afraid of worms... I figured they wont go to
/****/scripts/..\../winnt/cmd.exe or whatever... Hackers could still do
damage though... But then I figured I'm gonna write a filenametranslation
script who gives 403 on all requests with like '..' in it...

4. Try to run Apache on port 8080 and see what happends...

I have executed the WIN32 binary file which I downloaded from the apache
site

but when I go to run it, it says that port 80 is invalid
I checked out the port status and all 3 are free, I was thinking that it was
IIS Admin that was causing the problem but seen as all ports appear to be
free I have a feeling that it is somehting to do with modules????

Any help would be appreciated
thanks
louise
