You should NOT change the server.xml to run on port 443 if you are running
Apache on that port! Secondly, you must set Apache to run the at the http
interface of your tomcat and NOT the 8443 or 443 at all.
You should make Apache run the requests that suppose to be processed by
Tomcat on the 8080 port of Tomcat, otherwise neither Apache and Tomcat will
"understand" your config.

Make sure you read those two articles BEFORE implementing any farther
changes and mis-configurations on both your Tomcat and the Apache - you
might loss all your configuration that way.
