You need to configure your apache with the local ip address. Therefore if your
apache web server
has an ip address like 192.168.1.2, thats the one you need to use.

 As long as you can see your web server now behind the router/firewall you would
be able to use
virtual domains based on names, because this is done at the HTTP headers level not
at TCP/IP level.
