Image files with umlauts and other extended ascii charaters don't show up in some browsers. A small example: hello ( There is an umlaut in the filename of the image ) The image shows up in mozilla/netscape based browsers, but IE 4.x requests this filename in such a way that apache returns a 404 - file not found: [Wed May 7 02:22:46 2003] [error] [client 192.168.196.5] File does not exist: /usr/home/www/html/fi/bl=C3=ABh.jpg From=20my limited understanding, it seems that IE uses UTF-16 encoding or something and Apache doesn't seem understand what it's asking... Why can Apache find this file with certain browsers and not with other browsers? How can I make sure this file is found by apache no matter which encoding is used in the url as sent by the browser?
