Do you have the gnu binutils package?

/export/home/dwl/httpd-2.0.45/srclib/apr/libtool[4192]: ar:  not found

from the looks of it you don't or it's not in your path.  There should also
be the Sun ar in /usr/ccs/bin, it should work but I'd get the GNU utils to
be safe.
