No problem here. I just know from building Apache 2.0.45 on Solaris 9 myself that I needed
OpenSSL installed first. I created my own certificate and told conf/ssl.conf where to find
the certificate and keys. You will need to fire Apache up using the bin/apachectl startssl
command also. The error logs if you have them will be in logs/error_log. You can check there
for system errors.

Mike,
I am totally new to apache. I started working on it a week ago. Please do no mind my stupid
questions. There was somebody who installed apache1.3.2 before on our machines. He left the
company. I am not sure what version of openssl was used before. I am upgrading that now.
My understanding is that the latest version, apache2.0.45 source bundle, would have mod-ssl
and open-ssl bundled in it. Is that true? How do I check if any previous version of openssl
was installed? Where would be the installation?

Do you have OpenSSL 0.9.6e or higher installed?

You must have OpenSSL 0.9.6e+ installed and operational prior to installing Apache 2.0.45.
Also make sure that /usr/local/ssl/bin is in your $PATH when you ./configure.
