Subject Re: [users@httpd] Apache 2.0 + SSL + Documentation = Not Found
Date Thu, 10 Apr 2003 21:34:16 GMT
we haven't had any problems with ssl/ 2.0.x on our supported platforms,
including solaris, linux, aix, hp and of course windows. you can get the
latest openssl, such as 9.6i or 9.7, compile it, and then enable ssl.
the only gotcha is that the httpd code expects the openssl code to be
located at an expected point within its tree (that may be configurable,
not sure) . we just have a soft link

/vobs/WEB/src/apache2/src/srclib> ls -al openssl
 16 Nov  7 17:00 openssl -> ../../../openssl/

//////////// here's the configuration we use for solaris.

build_openssl_solaris: $(OPENSSL_DEPS)
        cd $(SSL_ROOT); $(PERL_PROG) ./Configure no-asm shared
solaris-sparcv8-cc --openssldir=$(PROJECT_ROOT)/ssl_inst
        cd $(SSL_ROOT); make all install

SHARED_MODS=--enable-cache=shared --enable-cern_meta=shared
--enable-charset_lite=shared --enable-dav=shared --enable-example=share
d --enable-ext_filter=shared --enable-file_cache=shared
--enable-mime_magic=shared --enable-proxy=shared --enable-suexec=shared --e
nable-unique_id=shared --enable-usertrack=shared

        cd apache2/src;./configure --prefix /apache2/apache_deploy_root
--enable-module=most --enable-mods-shared=most
 --with-port=7080 --with-mpm=worker --enable-ssl --with-ssl=$(SSL_INST)

on all our platforms we use vendor supplied tools, not the gnu compilers
etc. of course on linux, we do use gcc.
