Subject RE: [users@httpd] FW: segmentation fault errors
Date Tue, 04 Mar 2003 21:48:58 GMT
Hi,
We are not having problems with other programs - we are running an HP-UX 11i
Box with the HP version of Apache 2.43

HP gave us a bunch of configurations changes to make to the program and
kernel...which we applied and now the segmentation error messages only
happen occasionally however now the system is using up all of its memory
causing the website to run slow and you can't even stop the webserver
without a kill -9 for all PIDs

Does anyone know what would cause apache to use up all of the memory (I'm
talking about after only a few hours) We are running virtual hosts on the
box.

Any info/insight will be appreciated

Thanks,
Bobbie

Short answer: Yes.

A segmentation fault happens when somebody accesses memory they had no
business being in. With the segfault and bus erros you're experiencing, it
looks like you have a hardware problem on your hands. Are you experiencing
similar behavior with other programs? Do system heavy compiles fail with
these errors?
