The whole point of mod_rewrite is rewriting requests.  Why would there be a
flag to tell it to do this?  The 'R' flag to RewriteRule marks the action
as a redirect.

I can't help but feel you'd have more luck solving this problem if you
spent some time working through the documentation instead of randomly
trying things.

Also, it would be useful for the people trying to help you if you could
clearly define the problem you are trying to solve.  What is it that you
want the client (ie, web browser) to show in the 'Location' bar?  How would
you like these requests to be transformed?
