Subject RE: [users@httpd] Caching in Apache
Date Mon, 18 Nov 2002 10:49:40 GMT
Hi,

thanks for your reply Mr. Boyle.

I open the site I mention, http://www.ircache.net/cgi-bin/cacheability.py ,
type in http://212.123.31.37/ubclaims/home (our site) and that site shows
the headers coming in.
Now it says:
"Expires now (Mon, 18 Nov 2002 10:42:22 GMT)" for the pictures.
If I comment the (# ExpiresDefault "now") expiresdefault, it shows:
"Expires - "
Also, in the caching of my browser (Iexplorer), we use "Automatically" to
check for new version of pages. The pics show there as well either "expire
none" or an expire one hour ago... I'm rather clueless :(

Could it be the browser??? That site shows the headers coming in from the
server...

Thanks,

Koen

Where are you seeing these strings, "expire now" and "expire never"? In
the HTTP header or from some source in the browser? Remember that you
can only advise the browser about expiry etc. - It may or may not choose
to implement your suggestions...
