Could it be that you set the HTTP proxy for the Mac to be your Win2000
server?  That would seem to tally with the behaviour you're experiencing
(Mac connects to Win2000 server on port 80, sends "GET
http://httpd.apache.org/ HTTP/1.0", Apache on Win2000 server responds with
its default page).
