Subject [users@httpd] splitting log verification question
Date Mon, 07 Oct 2002 02:42:01 GMT

Greetings,

apache 1.3.26

I like to split many large old access_log
files (combined format) into smaller ones: for no
reason but to turn them into smaller ones (for
faster processing).

If I use unix's split command

split -l 1000000 access_log

will I harm the content in terms of making lines
to come out (in splitted files) in a way they
are not digestible for some strange reasons?
Will the lines still be valid apache log lines?

Thanks,
Farid
