Subject [users@httpd] mod_rewrite & home directories error.
Date Mon, 21 Oct 2002 00:14:50 GMT
Hi all,

I'm trying to implement a hashed user home directory set up using
mod_rewrite. I followed the directions in the mod_rewrite guide on the
Apache site, but it fails. Here are is the rewrite code I'm using, as well
as the error message I get when I attempt to view the user's directory:

         RewriteEngine on
         RewriteRule ^/~(([a-z])[a-z0-9]+)(.*)
/web/domain.com/HOMEDIRS/$2/$1$3

And this is what I see in my error log:

[Sun Oct 20 19:54:02 2002] [error] [client 24.112.24.79] File does not
exist: /web/domain.com/HOMEDIRS/s/steve

Any suggestions?
