You are entirely correct that SSL and Name-based Virtual Hosts are
functionally incompatible.  This is not to say, however, that a site using
SSL (and thus existing on ports 80 and 443 of a given address) can not
co-exist with a number of other non-SSL sites via name-based virtualhosts
on Port 80 of that address.

I read your earlier post as stating that this practice was problematic, but
it appears that I misunderstood you.
