Subject RE: [users@httpd] NATD
Date Mon, 02 Sep 2002 09:21:27 GMT
Dirk,
  My firewall is a FreeBSD box running internal IPFW and NATD from the
kernel. My goal is to route only a singular domain name to the second IP
Address; as an example;
   <virtualhost 192.168.1.2:80>
	Servername www.domain1.com
   </virtualhost>
   <virtualhost 192.168.1.3:80>
	Servername www.domain2.com
   </virtualhost>
   <virtualhost 192.168.1.2:80>
	Servername www.domain3.com
   </virtualhost>

I know that this doesn't work, I'm just trying to display what I'm
trying to do. I just want www.domain2.com to be routed to the other IP
address. The firewall is primarily just to keep most people out, that's
all.

You need a 'rule' to say when the traffic should go to one inside
address,
and when to the other.

This can be based on the outside address, simply round robin, based on
load of the server, based on where the connection is coming from, purely
random, and so on. What exactly depens on your NAT software and the OS
of
the NAT machine/router/firewall/loadbalacner.
