For what it's worth, I still think it has to be a TimeOut issue.

It's not the HTML which is the only thing browsers care about. There's
nothing helpful in the error.log so it's not the CGI either.

There's only the connection left and I would have suspected the firewall
but since the problems is seen on the localhost, the issue has to be a
setting in Apache itself.

If "TimeOut 1200" (or higher) doesn't help then I don't know what will
:(
