Subject [users@httpd] Procmail recipe to un-mangle the Subject
Date Thu, 29 Aug 2002 21:23:50 GMT
If any of you have access to procmail and want to remove the
"[UselessListIdentifier]" from mailing-lists, here is a procmail recipe you
can include to accomplish that:

########################################################################
#Get rid of header munging
FRONT=

:0
* ^Subject:\/([^[])+
{ FRONT=$MATCH }

:0fhW
* ^Subject:.*(\[[^]]+\]+)\/.*
| formail -I"Subject:$FRONT$MATCH"

As written, it removes the first occurrence of "[anything]" from all Subject:
headers. You can place it anywhere before mailing-list mail gets delivered.
