Sorry if the directive --with-apxs2 doesn't exist. I know this feature from
compiling PHP so I thought that it could be used on other ./configure
scripts.

But try to find if 0.96g is apache2 compatible. This could be the problem.

                                Good Luck Milan

Here I installed openssl 0.9.6g not 0.9.6b
 with
./Configure linux-elf
dso --prefix=/usr/local --openssldir=/usr/local/openssl

where exactly i should use the option --with-apxs2 can ypu please be more
specific here

it enables all modules shared, then I installed aache 2.0.39 with
option --enable-ssl

It was installed sucessfuly, but still I am getting the same problem when
I start apache with startssl
   Thks for your great help
 Bye
 Venkat

May be the problem is that OpenSSL 0.96b on RedHat is not compiled for
apache2. You should recompile with the option --with-apxs2.
