Subject Re: What version of Apache I am running?

Hi Nate,
  Two methods,

  1. If you have root on the box run the binary with the -V flag.
  eg. /path/to/httpd -V
  [root@willy /root]# /var/www/bin/httpd -V
   Server version: Apache/1.3.26 (Unix)
   Server built: Apr 10 2002 17:09:14

  2. If the webserver is running, it might tell you of you telnet to the
   port it is running on.
  eg. [root@willy /root]# telnet nateworks.ca 80
   Trying 24.66.178.234...
   Connected to nateworks.ca.
   Escape character is '^]'.
   HEAD / HTTP/1.0

   HTTP/1.1 200 OK
   Date: Mon, 29 Jul 2002 16:57:44 GMT
   Server: Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) PHP/4.0.6
   Last-Modified: Fri, 31 May 2002 23:18:33 GMT

Cheers,
Nathan
