Subject Authentication exclusion
Date Tue, 18 Jun 2002 16:17:15 GMT
Hi,

Hopefully I'm missing something easy on this one, I've searched the
newsgroups, FAQ and docs to no avail.

How do I password protect a site except for a certain directory? I can't
seem to find an exclusion or negative regular expression match using
DirectoryMatch or LocationMatch.

I tried this:

<LocationMatch "^/public/">
    allow from all
</LocationMatch>
<LocationMatch "^/">
    ... auth settings here ...
</LocationMatch>

and the other way around:

<LocationMatch "^/">
    ... auth settings here ...
</LocationMatch>
<LocationMatch "^/public/">
    allow from all
</LocationMatch>

and this:

<LocationMatch "^(!/public/)">
    ... auth settings here ...
</LocationMatch>

I always end up with authentication prompts for all or none. Ideas?

TIA.
Monte
