the chartables.c didnt exist so I ran dftables but got the error anyway.  I changed the version
of gcc from 3.1 to 2.95.2 because we have had problems with 3.1 and it compiled correctly.
 I did a make install and started httpd.   It doesnt start but does not complain either. 
I looked in the logs and see the following:

Invalid argument:  setgid:  unable to set group id to Group 4294967295.  I dont have a group
like that.   I have in the httpd.conf file  a line Group: www so it should run as www as before.
 Any ideas what this is referring to?
