Well there could be any number of things to cause this.  Here are what I would think are the
most probable
1) traffic spike
2) a server script that takes to long to run
3) a server script that gets into an infinite loop somehow
4) server is simply under to much load
5) bandwidth is maxed

I would imagine that #3 would probably be the best bet if the problem persisted throughout
the ENTIRE weekend, and if the problem
doesn't happen A LOT.
