Hmmm . . . this could be more of a PHP question.

Generally, when you build PHP for Apache from source, I've found the
best method is to use the 'configure' script in the php build
directory:

  For Apache 1.3.x: ./configure --with-apxs=/path/to/apache/bin/apxs
  For Apache 2.0.x: ./configure
--with-apxs2=/path/to/apache2/bin/apxs

That generally takes care of the include/library files that PHP will
need. If you're building for Apache 2.0, make sure you specify
'--with-apxs2' - that could cause similar problems.

Also, make sure to take a good look at the PHP doc at
http://www.php.net/manual/en/install.apache.php - especially the more
recent user comments.

Good Luck!
