I would strongly suggest you grab IP Addr then use your PHP script to do the DNS look up AFTER the transaction (speed intensive phase) is complete. You will find that those lookup in your PHP are now the ones that are horribly slow - but please do not complain to PHP - it is the nature of DNS to be slow...
