Subject RE: Configuring Apache Virtual Hosts
Date Thu, 07 Mar 2002 15:42:40 GMT
I think it might need to be:

NameVirtualHost xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

<VirtualHost xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx>
ServerName www.domain.tld
DocumentRoot /home/duce/www
</VirtualHost>

This is suggested in the docs for simple name-based vhosting
( http://httpd.apache.org/docs/vhosts/examples.html )

    NameVirtualHost *

    <VirtualHost *>
    DocumentRoot /www/domain
    ServerName www.domain.tld
    ...
    </VirtualHost>

    <VirtualHost *>
    DocumentRoot /www/subdomain
    ServerName www.sub.domain.tld
    ...
    </VirtualHost>

The asterisks match all addresses, so the main server serves no requests.
Due to the fact that www.domain.tld is first in the configuration file, it
has the highest priority and can be seen as the default or primary server.

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/vhosts/ has great information

Bryan,

Thanks for the response here is a sample of the what I put in the .conf
file. Do you see anything wrong with it or anything missing?

NameVirtualHost xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

<VirtualHost www.domain.tld>
ServerName www.domain.tld
DocumentRoot /home/duce/www
</VirtualHost>

Thanks Again,

Bill

are you trying to:
point http://your.website.com 	-> to /var/www/html
and   http://your.website.com/www 	-> to /home/duce/www/
??  no??

If you are trying to:
point http://your.website.com 	-> to /home/duce/www/

then set your .conf file with this
DocumentRoot "/home/duce/www" <- note, no trailing slash
