OK. Now try command-line access to the server using telnet. Your session
should look like this:

$ telnet <hostname> 80
Trying 192.168.1.1...
Connected to hostname.
Escape character is '^]'.

- you type in:

GET / HTTP/1.0

- then type <return><return> and see what comes back (you should get an
HTTP header followed by the default HTML page).
