They can. Excerpt from my httpd.conf:

NameVirtualHost *:443

<VirtualHost *:443>
    ServerName rc.xxxxxx.com
    SSLEngine on
    SSLCertificateFile /etc/ssl/star.xxxxxx.com/apache.crt
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost *:443>
    ServerName sab.xxxxxx.com
    SSLEngine on
    SSLCertificateFile /etc/ssl/star.xxxxxx.com/apache.crt
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost *:443>
    ServerName svn.xxxxxx.com
    SSLEngine on
    SSLCertificateFile /etc/ssl/star.xxxxxx.com/apache.crt
</VirtualHost>

Cheers
