Correct - I was not precise.

Using mod_proxy* with Java is no exotic use case, especially with 
mod_proxy_ajp.
So, is using the "swiss army knife" here to make mod_proxy* compliant to 
the Java
specification really the more elegant solution compared to adding 
parameters?
