   Agreed; for my own applications, I've borrowed the design
of mod_ssl's cache, where you've got shared memory segments
protected with global mutexes, and that works nicely.

   In this particular case, the question seemed to be about
wanting to hack something private into the balancers part of
the scoreboard, for reasons left unspecified, so I was trying
to respond to how I'd do that myself ... if, for some unknown
reason, that was necessary.


   That said, I have a scoreboard enhancement in the pipeline,
but it's specifically for tracking additional process and thread
state information, and I'll definitely post it here for review.
