Subject Problems building Apache 2.0.55 with OpenSSL 0.9.8a
Date Tue, 18 Oct 2005 14:23:42 GMT
Hey @all,

today I tried build Apache 2.0.55 with OpenSSL 0.9.8a and I got
following error while executing make for the Apachecode:

[...]
Text relocation remains referenced
    against symbol offset in file
DES_SPtrans 0x1220
/usr/local/apautobuild/workdirs/20051018_123249/bld/openssl/lib/libcrypto.a(des_enc-sparc.o)
ld: fatal: relocations remain against allocatable but non-writable sections
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[4]: *** [mod_ssl.la] Error 1
make[3]: *** [shared-build-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: *** [shared-build-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: *** [shared-build-recursive] Error 1
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

I build on Solaris 8 Sparc with gcc 3.2. To build OpensSSL I use the
flags: -no-shared -fPIC and to build apache I use the flags: --enable-so
--enable-modules=all --enable-mods-shared=all --enable-static-support
--with-mpm=worker --enable-ssl --enable-rule=SSL_EXPERIMENTAL
--with-ssl=/usr/local/bld/openssl.

To build Apache 1.3.33 with OpenSSL 0.9.8a was no problem, also to build
Apache 2.0.55 with OpenSSL 0.9.7i was no problem.

So any idea what's causing the error? Is it a bug?

Any help would be great.

Thanks
Nicola
