I am new to development of apache modules and was wondering as to what are the restrictions (and how easy it might be) in terms of doing the following activities:

a) Creation of pipes (named or otherwise) for IPC 

b) Creation of a new thread by the module itself at initialization time.

 

Can someone please let me know if there are restrictions, and/or are there preferred means of doing the above?
