Subject mod_ldap connection pool goes bananas
Date Wed, 04 Dec 2002 13:07:06 GMT
Hi all,

I have just tried applying some load to Apache v2.0.43 + mod_ldap +
mod_auth_ldap, and after a while, auth breaks.

The reason is shown by netstat:

tcp 0 0 trilobite:48703 trilobite:ldap
ESTABLISHED
tcp 0 0 trilobite:48683 trilobite:ldap
ESTABLISHED
tcp 0 0 trilobite:48681 trilobite:ldap
ESTABLISHED
tcp 0 0 trilobite:48687 trilobite:ldap
ESTABLISHED
tcp 0 0 trilobite:48685 trilobite:ldap
ESTABLISHED
tcp 0 0 trilobite:48675 trilobite:ldap
ESTABLISHED
tcp 0 0 trilobite:48673 trilobite:ldap
ESTABLISHED
tcp 0 0 trilobite:48679 trilobite:ldap
ESTABLISHED
tcp 0 0 trilobite:48677 trilobite:ldap
ESTABLISHED
tcp 0 0 trilobite:48667 trilobite:ldap
ESTABLISHED
tcp 0 0 trilobite:48665 trilobite:ldap
ESTABLISHED
...

It seems mod_ldap opens a connection for every request, and then never
closes them again.

Does anyone see a reason for this in the code...?

Regards,
Graham
