Getting apache to be LSB compliant requires more than just installing it in
the correct directory. The code must also be compiled so that it only uses
system shared libraries defined by the LSB spec. For example, libexpat is
not defined by the LSB spec so we built apache using the --with-expat
configure parameter pointing to the expat included with the apache source.
For this reason it makes sense to have the LSB team build and maintain the
rpm binary. If someone from the apache team would like to build it as well
I would be happy to describe the steps necessary to create an LSB compliant
build environment and to build apache itself.
